Some of the most talented young singers in Philadelphia bring a panoply of American choral music to the Cathedral Basilica in this lively program led by director Dorina Morrow. Morrow has imbued the Choir of the Philadelphia Creative and Performing Arts High School with a rich sound and depth of character seldom heard in young voices. Samuel Barber’s Agnus Dei—the choral version of his iconic Adagio for Strings—captures the essence of a program exploring themes of spirituality and faith, identity and longing, in poignant spirituals and the lush choral harmonies of Eric Whitacre, Leonard Bernstein, Z. Randall Stroope, and Aaron Copland.
